Therapy Services Rates are based on a 50 minute "therapeutic hour" and currently are $150 per session. Most sessions will last around 50 minutes, but some types of sessions are more appropriate longer. These may include family sessions or couple sessions. Sessions which are clinically indicated to be 90 minutes long will be charged at $190 per session. The appropriate length of time for your sessions will be discussed during your initial visit. Payment is expected at the time of service and is accepted by cash, checks, mastercard, or visa. If financial resources are limited at this time, therapy may still be an option. Research has shown that even short-term therapy (as little as 6 sessions) can significantly improve functioning. Using your Insurance to Pay for Service If you would like to use your insurance benefits, please contact your insurance company to determine if you have any "out- of - network" benefits. The fee for your session will still be expected at the time of service, but you are welcome to bill your insurance company for sessions in order to be reimbursed by your insurance company. Dr. McFarland can provide you with the needed documentation to submit to your insurance company. However, most insurance companies require a diagnosis in order to reimburse services. Depending on the insurance company, only specific diagnosis may be covered and once an insurance company has your diagnosis it may be kept on your permanent record and be considered a "pre-existing" condition. Some insurance companies also limit the number of sessions that they will pay for per calendar year.
Groups Offered
Social Skills for Children: Dr. McFarland is in the process of accepting referrals for children who could benefit from attending a social skills group. The objectives of this social skills group will be to help children improve their relationships with peers and adults. Skills that will be taught include listening to others, empathy for others, assertive communication, personal boundaries, and how to make and keep friends.
Ending Emotional Eating Group: Dr. McFarland is also accepting referrals for a new group specifically for adults who are struggling with symptoms of disordered eating. This group will focus on identifying the difference between emotional hunger and physical hunger, learning appetite awareness training, how to end emotional eating, and identifying triggers to unhealthy eating habits.
Workshops/Presentations Rates for providing workshops or presenting at conferences vary. Dr. McFarland has experience presenting at conferences, senior recreation centers, support groups, and for many types of professional trainings. Please contact Dr. McFarland for further information regarding her ability to present to your group. Consultations Dr. McFarland is available for many different types of consultations. These may include consulting with other professionals (therapists, psychologists) regarding difficult case presentations or increasing awareness of effective ways to treat specific populations (self-injurious behaviors, eating disorders, etc). In addition, Dr. McFarland has spent more than three years working in medical settings with doctors and mid-level practitioners and can be available to further educate medical professional about a wide range of mental health concerns that typically present to primary care practices.
